Download Resume Here! As a Professional Artist: I have recently earned my BFA (Media Arts and Animation) June of 2004, as well as the esteem of my instructors and peers. I attended The Illinois Institute of Art which is located in downtown Chicago. My goal is to establish a career in the video game industry, focusing on my particular strengths, character & world design and many styles of 2D illustration. I have worked for High Voltage Software as a contract concept artist for videogames and a business card game. I did all of the 2D backgrounds in the cinema scenes of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory videogames. That game was based on the recent WB version of the movie. I had alot of fun at HVS and hopefully I will be returning for more contract work in the near future! I have done work for Zizzle, a new toy/electronic games company. Currently all my Zizzle jobs are confidential but I will be happy to reveal the projects I have worked on once they are available to the public. I enjoy working in a vast variety of mediums and styles. From simple cartoons to photo realism, I am willing to fulfill any request. I enjoy traditional mediums such as paint, markers, color pencil, and especially inks. I am also well acquainted with more modern mediums, such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I have worked in 3D programs such as Maya 5 and Studio Max, but I have more passion for 2D work. I have been told my styles resemble the Japanese style of cartooning. However, it seems my art is considered Japanese exclusively to American viewers. Any Asian artist I have ever consulted with has felt my work is heavily American influenced. I personally believe my styles are a fine blending of many influences, not just that of one nation, but of the world. However, I will not deny that my work is heavily American and Asian. Being that I myself, are both American and Asian, I find it quite fitting. Sewing and fashion design are also a couple more of my talents. I am a self-taught seamstress. I have made many costumes based on videogame and anime characters. Often bored with the uninspired fashions of today, I tend to make my own clothing or alter items I have purchased. I also make plush dolls based on the UFO Catcher design of dolls from Japan. As an Everyday Joe: People often ask me to describe myself and I find this quite difficult. At a glance, some may think I am some vegan, man-eatting feminist goth. Well, sorry to dissapoint, but I am none of those things. As the old saying goes, looks can be deceiving! I eat meat, I think men are great, and I’m too happy to be a goth. I can’t be classified, I’m just Crizl. I am a woman of extremes. If I love something, I am very excited and passionate about it. If I do not care for something, I’ll stand by my belief until I die. I am very dedicated to anything I devote myself to. I love to learn and I’m always looking for new things to absorb, especially about art, of course. I also hate to be lazy. If I’m not busy, I feel dead inside. My favorite movies and television shows are all either comedy, horror, or action. I can’t stand romance, or ‘chick flicks’. I can appreciate all types of music, but my favorite is Industrial (this is a combination of rock and electronic music.) I am not big on sweets, I prefer spicy foods. Those commercials with flooding chocolate make me gag. My nickname, Crizl, is derived from my real name, Crystal. When I was in highschool, my friends often spoke my name so quickly, it came out as ‘Crizl’ and not ‘Crystal’. I happily adopted it as my pen name. I love all sorts of videogames, I study so many of them yet I usually don't have much time to play them. I am facinated with game design and the effects they have on the public. Same applies to anime, television, and movies, I have my favorites but I mainly study them, even the ones I don't care for so much. My favorite games are the Guilty Gear series, Tekken series, and Bust-a-Groove series. My favorite anime are Naruto and Shaman King. As a kid I grew up on Transformers and Ninja Turtles. When I was little, I wanted to grow up to be either the Incredible Hulk or a giant robot. I’ll let you know when I make it! ^_^
Just a few pics of me, hair color is always changing...kinda like one of those lame bathtub toys. |
