FEBRUARY 1ST, 2011- It's been a long time since I have had a chance to update! First of all, I'm happy to announce that there will be a whole new website coming soon! (This one was just a temporary thing thrown together with Yahoo Sitebuilder. The new site will be alot more professional, easier to navigate!) With the new site, there is going to be more focus on pre-made items, less on commissions! Now no worries for those who would still like to make a plushie commission request, I will still be accepting them, just far less. I'll explain!.... I've tried to make a living on commissions for 2 1/2 years now and it has been quite a struggle. I've actually received a very awesome amount of requests, to date I have completed 157 plushies!!! Pretty sweet for one gal, and her 2 buddies who help with advertising and occasional cutting of fabric, eh? :D I've met some mega-sweet customers who became my friends too! Buuuut.......The rate I receive requests and payments is completely unpredictable, so I haven't been able to pay my bills, d'oh! This caused alot of unstable schedules, everyone has due dates, different types of requests, certain materials I couldn't find, and alot of deadlines tended to lump together. I've had countless weeks where I stayed up all night to complete deadlines. Not that I don't enjoy the challenge, and I'm great at being able to work on very little sleep, lol! This really needs to change...I haven't been able to keep up with the demand as well as I hoped. Some folks had to wait longer than I estimated, which I can't allow myself to happen anymore. Everyone is so cool to hire me, I want to make plushies as fast as I can, but then that means I can't make them as nicely detailed like folks are expecting. Sadly I couldn't really come up with any way to make them faster. I'm already really fast, but I can't hire anyone to help sew. My boyfriend, Jeremey, has been able to help cut pattern pieces, and my buddy Staack helps me ship and advertise, but nobody can help sew, stuff, and decorate. It would need to be someone I trust not to steal my techniques, and could work in my home, lol! The solution? Pre-made items! They should hopefully provide steadier income to supplement the unpredictability of commission requests! ^_^ Pre-made items are faster to make and I produce and sell at a much faster rate than commission requests. So in late February, I am taking a break from new requests, this way I can catch up on all my current requests and start making all the new items! Anyone want to know what new items will there be here? :D I have had a long time passion for 2 other things before I started plushies, wild fashion and manga art! I have been selling both of those for years now, been test marketing my items, so looks like 2011 will be the year I will finally launch my line of cyber and manga style fashion accessories, artwork and more! Eventually some pre-made plushies too! Stay tuned for more updates! :3 |
